| Mentoring Program The Method: Our method is to study the most basic unit of our faith, summarized in the Apostles’ Creed, and to mentor Christians in these basic doctrines. In using this method, disciples will learn how and what to teach others, and in that process, fulfill the Apostle Paul’s desire for Timothy, “what you have heard me (Paul) say before many witnesses, entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others,” II Timothy 2: 2 (Beck) The Tool: Disciples International provides a self-contained program that revolves around a booklet that the mentor uses with the mentee to instill the basic concepts and commitments of Christianity. The Apostles' Creed is a mainstay of the program, and the participant is prepared for understanding and utilizing their commitment to Christ, and by so doing fulfill the commandment expressed by Christ in Mathew 28:19-20, as well as in II Timothy 2:2. For this, a booklet is provided for the mentor with lessons and activities and a certificate of accomplishment. The participant is then prepared, and encouraged, to take up the booklet and become a mentor himself/herself -- and so be in turn a teacher, just as Paul encouraged Timothy, his young convert.
